Plot Synopsis

In each 30-minute episode, a couple is shown four properties -- two for rent and two to buy -- and must decide not only which place is the best fit for them, but whether or not they should take on a mortgage. Will they rent or will they buy? On Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11pm ET, HGTV aired this program's pilot episode, which featured an Austin couple looking to downsize. More than six months later, RENT OR BUY returned for its series premiere on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11pm ET/PT, with HGTV showing back-to-back new episodes. In the series opener, expecting parents in Philadelphia in Philadelphia are unsure if they will be able to balance their new needs with their desire for city living. In the night's second episode, a recently engaged couple in Wilmington, DE will be moving out of his parent's house.
