Plot Synopsis

Emily Thorne rents a beach home in the Hamptons, is welcomed by the upscale community, and begins her quest for bitter revenge against her new neighbors, the Graysons. This series has been billed as a Count of Monte Cristo-in-the Hamptons story from the female perspective. When Emily was young, she was known as Amanda Clarke and she grew up in foster homes after her father, Kevin, was destroyed by Victoria Grayson. Now, the matriarch of the Grayson family unknowingly welcomes Emily as a friend and neighbor while Emily plots the demise of the Grayson family, which includes: Victoria, the head of the family and social power broker who holds a much darker secret -- her culpability in the events that destroyed Emily's life; Conrad, Victoria's husband, who is a shrewd and successful tycoon who operates with questionable moral integrity; Daniel, the 20-something heir to the Grayson fortune who finds himself unable to resist Emily; and Charlotte, Victoria's "mean-girl" daughter, who has a curiosity streak that draws her to boys from the wrong side of the tracks. Emily also gets help from her closest friend, Ashley, who is the Hamptons go-to event planner. Plus, she crosses paths with people who have links to her past: Nolan Ross may act like he doesn't know Emily, but he shares a link to her past, her present, and her secret; Jack Porter, the son of a dock worker, gets a deja-vu sensation when Emily enters his life; and Jack's younger brother Declan, who is intrigued by the wealthy world of these elite vacationers and finds a target in Charlotte Grayson. At the end of Season 1, Emily's plans were coming to fruition. Through her engagement to Daniel, she gained access to evidence that would have destroyed Grayson Global. But the White-Haired Man had different plans and kidnapped Emily, who woke up shackled next to Nolan in a dungeon. After sending the White-Haired Man on a wild goose chase for the evidence, Emily escaped, released Nolan to deliver the real evidence, and confronted the White-Haired Man with an axe when he returned. Later, the White-Haired man planted a bomb on a plane carrying Victoria, Lydia, and Emily's evidence, and when the bomb explodes, the evidence has been destroyed and Victoria and Lydia are presumed to be dead. But all is not lost, as Nolan un-encrypted a hard drive contaning a backup copy of the evidence, and they soon learn that Emily's mom is alive. Season 2 begins with a huge event, and "then flashes back and unravels how we got there, probably over the course of 13-14 episodes," according to Gabriel Man in an interview with In the second season, Emily briefly puts her revenge plans on hold to search for her mother, quickly learning that the Graysons were involved in her disappearance and that she was married to the White-Haired man, who was responsible for her father's death. Meanwhile, Victoria has faked her death and while in hiding, she plans a scheme that involves Emily. By midseason, Emily and Aiden are inflitrating Grayson Global, while Daniel, the company's new CEO, appoints a CFO, Padma Lahari, who has her own secrets. Jack Porter and the real Amanda Clarke get married and on their honeymoon, the seas prove deadly, taking Amanda's life as well as that of Nate Ryan. Emily continues to struggle with her revenge plan, but plots her next move as Daniel's fiancee, but a heartbreaking death in the Season 2 finale forces Emily to re-evaluate her path of revenge. Season 3 premiered on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC, with a glimpse into the future showing that the wedding of the century may lead to Emily's ultimate demise. When the third season opened, it was summer in the Hamptons, and Emily's course of revenge is renewed, being set against an unexpected timeline. Meanwhile, the return of Victoria Grayson's long-lost son, Patrick, brought changes and complications to the all-powerful family. REVENGE returned for its fourth season on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "Renaissance," Victoria finds a way to turn her greatest setback into a dangerous advantage, as Emily plans to host her most surprising party ever. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them both, David Clarke plans his next move.
On Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the series finale of REVENGE. In the series ender, "Two Graves," Emily is backed into a corner and is forced to admit her guilt, but she'll have to decide how far she'll go before admitting defeat. Guest starring Christa B. Allen as Charlotte Clarke, Courtney Love as White Gold, Gail O'Grady as Stevie Grayson, and Adrienne Barbeau as Marion Harper.
