Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2009, heavy music magazine "Revolver" has recognized outstanding talent in hard rock and heavy metal music, with performances by classic and emerging artists. Achievement awards include: Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award (2014: Axl Rose; 2013: Metallica; 2012: Rush; 2011: Motley Crue; 2010: Lemmy Kilmister; 2009: Ozzy Osbourne); Golden God Award (2014: Joan Jett; 2013: Rob Zombie; 2012: Gene Simmons; 2011: Alice Cooper; 2010: Rob Halford; 2009: Dave Mustaine), which is given to one special honoree a year who embodies the spirit of hard rock and metal; and Riff Lord Award (2013: Tony Iommi; 2012: Slash), which is given each year to a legendary guitarist in the field of hard rock and heavy metal. Plus, fans were given the opportunity to vote for these awards: Best Guitarist; Best Drummer; Best Vocalist; Album of the Year; Song of the Year; Best Live Band; Best New Talent; Most Metal Athlete; Comeback of the Year; Best Bassist; and Most Dedicated Fans. The first event, held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, was later broadcast as a one-hour special by MTV2 on May 2. VH1 Classic then picked up the 2nd and 3rd annual GOLDEN GODS AWARDS, again showing an hour of highlights nearly one month after the awards show. In 2012, for the 4th annual event, XBox Live broadcast the festivities live -- for the first time ever -- with the event also streaming on the XBox and "Revolver" Facebook pages. For the 2013 event, AXS TV aired the 5th Annual GOLDEN GODS AWARDS live on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11pm ET / 8pm PT from Club Nokia at LA Live, with host Chris Jericho, featuring performances by Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch, Anthrax, Stone Sour, Dillinger Escape Plan, Halestorm and more.

On Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 8-9:30pm ET/PT, VH1 Classic premiered the 6th annual GOLDEN GOD AWARDS, which was taped one month earlier on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Club Nokia at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, CA. Hosted by THAT METAL SHOW's Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine, the 2014 GOLDEN GOD AWARDS featured Guns N' Roses, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, A Day To Remember, Zakk Wylde, The Pretty Reckless & special surprise guests. Plus, appearances by Dave Navarro, Orianthi, Ace Frehley, Scott Ian, Jamey Jasta and Chino Moreno.
