Plot Synopsis

ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR is a half-hour reality series that follows Sammy Hagar as the Red Rocker drives across the United States to jam with some of music's biggest names, including Tommy Lee, Michael Anthony, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Alice Cooper, Jerry Cantrell, Nancy Wilson, and more. Throughout the season, Hagar travels to the homes of some of rock's biggest personalities and best-loved artists, interviewing them, jamming with them, and exploring their favorite haunts. The series also chronicles Hagar's own adventures as he rehearses with his new all-star group The Circle, shares his rules of the road, and rocks on tour and at festivals including Carolina Rebellion. In the first two episodes, Hagar and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony cruise the Sunset Strip and reminisce at the world famous Whisky A Go Go, before heading out to Motley Crue star Tommy Lee's house to cook, talk, and perform rock staples "Rock Candy" and Jeff Beck's "Going Down." Then, Hagar heads out to San Francisco for a special Grateful Dead episode, joining founding members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart as they relive the glory days of the Peace & Love Movement on Haight-Ashbury, delve into their musical influences, discuss what made the Grateful Dead so special, and bring the house down with a Hagar/Weir duet on the Grateful Dead classic "Loose Lucy," followed by a jam session with Hagar and Hart. Other highlights include a session with Nancy Wilson from Heart, and appearances by shock rock icon Alice Cooper, Alice In Chains axe-man Jerry Cantrell, and appearances by many more rock legends.

Season 2 of ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR premiered on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 9pm ET/6pm PT on AXS TV. The 12-episode season follows Hagar as he travels to notable music cities throughout the U.S. to interview and jam with some of his legendary friends in music including John Mayer, John Mellencamp, James Hetfield (Metallica), Mick Fleetwood, Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick), Joe Satriani, and Melissa Etheridge. Season 2 is split into six-show cycles, kicking off with a 60-minute season opener, "Acoustic 4 A Cure," during which Sammy heads to the landmark Fillmore Theatre in San Francisco to perform his annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure Concert. He sits down with John Mayer and Joe Satriani and later they all hit the stage with fellow musicians James Hetfield, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Monahan, Tommy Lee, and Kris Kristofferson.

On Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, AXS TV premiered the third season of ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR. In the season opener, "Acoustic Foo A Cure," Sammy heads to the landmark Fillmore Theatre in San Francisco, California, to perform his annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure Concert. Sammy sits down with Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, and later he takes the stage with Mick Fleetwood, Dave Grohl, and Vic Johnson. Episodes later in the season feature an eclectic array of guest appearances including: The Who icon Roger Daltrey; Heavy Metal pioneer Rob Halford; classic rock hit makers Foreigner; Canadian alt-rockers Nickelback; and more.

The 12-episode fourth season of ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR premiered on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on AXS TV. In the season opener, "On The Rock & Roll Road Trip Again," Sammy cruises down to The World's Largest Honky Tonk, Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, TX, to take in some local bull-riding action before joining groundbreaking Country superstar Willie Nelson for a spirited conversation, and hitting the stage with Nelson for an unforgettable impromptu jam of the chart-topper's signature hit "On The Road Again." Season 5 of ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR premiered on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT on AXS TV, featuring an all-star lineup of guests like '80s music's finest, country music superstars, NBA legends, and everything in between. Season 5 guests include: Def Leppard & Shaq (Apr 19); Rob Thomas (Apr 26); Ted Nugent (May 3); Big & Rich (May 10); Brian May, Tanya Tucker & Joe Walsh (May 17); and Extreme (May 24). In the season opener, "Viva Def Vegas," Sammy heads to Vegas to meet up with Shaquille O'Neal at Shaq's Big Chicken restaurant and then catch up with Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott and hear all about the band's newest venture: a residency at Planet Hollywood. ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR returned with new Season 5 episodes on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 9pm ET/6pm PT on AXS TV. The new batch of episodes kick off with the iconic country duo, Brooks & Dunn and a tour of Ronnie Dunn's unique ranch, followed by a lively jam session with Hagar, Dunn and Kix Brooks. Then, on October 11, the series presents a heartfelt tribute to beloved rock showman Eddie Money, as the Red Rocker honors his dear friend during a star-studded night of music that finds him taking the stage with Money's children Dez and Jesse Money, and catching up with fellow rock trailblazers James Hetfield, George Thorogood, Greg Kihn, Louie Anderson, Mickey Thomas, Kevin Cronin and Dave Amato. Other highlights include a visit with acclaimed artist Pat Monahan, frontman of the Grammy-winning septet Train; a trek to the heart of Music City where Sammy heads to one of his favorite venues to trade stories with chart-topping rocker Chris Daughtry, followed by a performance of the blues classic "Have Mercy"; a spirited sitdown with legendary percussionist Kenny Aronoff and TOTO founder Steve Lukather; and it all concludes with a very special LIVE one hour season finale that we promise you won't want to miss.

AXS TV premiered the one-hour series finale of ROCK & ROLL ROAD TRIP WITH SAMMY HAGAR on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 9-10pm ET/6-7pm PT. In the finale, "King of the Road," Sammy heads to The Woodshed in North Hollywood to discover a hangout where celebrities and musicians meetup and jam. During this hour-long live special, Sammy will be joined by some special guests while looking back at the good, the bad and the hilarious moments over the years of shooting his show, culminating with a heartfelt performance of a Van Halen classic.
