Plot Synopsis

Using in-depth interviews, insights from music critics, archival footage, music videos, and live performances, this half-hour documentary series chronicles the lives and careers of rock 'n' roll legends. Each 30-minut episode of ROCK LEGENDS, features a different performer, including: Eric Clapton, of one of Britain's enduring rock stars; Pink Floyd, one of the most influential progressive rock bands, which released The Dark Side of the Moon in 1973; Queen, which dominated the charts across the world in the '70s and '80s; Rod Stewart, whose album, "Every Picture Tells a Story," made him the first solo artist to achieve the number 1 position in both the US and the UK; and many more legends like Blur, Bryan Ferry, Eurythmics, Paul Simon, Elton John, David Bowie, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, George Michael, Sting, Pet Shop Boys, Dire Straits, and more. After airing in the UK as DISCOVERING, AXS TV presented the U.S. premiere of this series -- with a new title, ROCK LEGENDS -- on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, showing back-to-back episodes. In its first season on AXS TV, the cable channel showed 12 episodes -- four from DISCOVERING's first season and eight from the second season of the show's original UK run. On Monday, January 19, 2015 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, AXS TV aired the U.S. premiere of the second season of ROCK LEGENDS. The Season 2 opener featured ABBA, who hit superstardom in the late 70s with the release of their album Arrival, featuring single "Dancing Queen." Subsequent episodes featured Black Sabbath, Depeche Mode, Foo Fighters, and more rock legends from DISCOVERING's third season.

A new season of ROCK LEGENDS premiered on AXS TV on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, with a season opener that highlights Chicago. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns," Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups, and one of the world's best-selling groups of all time, having sold more than 100 million records. In 1971, Chicago was the first rock act to sell out Carnegie Hall for a week. Subsequent episodes this season feature: ZZ Top (Oct 9); Glen Campbell (Oct 16); Steve Miller Band (Oct 23); Journey (Oct 30); Diana Ross & the Supremes (Nov 6); Al Green (Nov 13); Marvin Gaye (Nov 20); Smokey Robinson (Nov 27); Foreigner (Dec 4); Pat Benatar (Dec 11); and Little Richard (Dec 18).

AXS TV premiered a new season of ROCK LEGENDS on Thursday September 12, 2019 at 9pm ET/6pm PT. The season opener, "American Rock," focuses on American rock, which has its foundations firmly in rock and roll -- and infused a variety of musical genres of the time. America was fighting the Vietnam War and protests across the country were widespread. It was during this period of unrest that the driving force behind many artists such as Boston, REO Speedwagon, Styx and many others were formed.

On Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT, AXS TV premiered a new season of ROCK LEGENDS. The season opener, "The Motown Sound," features acts like The Temptations, The Miracles, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. For many music fans, the Motown Sound is the defining sound of the 1960s pop, R&B, and soul music. The distinctive musical style-all tambourines, driving bass lines, and gospel-influenced vocal harmonies-became synonymous with the Detroit studio where the songs were recorded and the stars who sang them.
