Plot Synopsis

Created by Rawson Marshall Thurber, RYAN HANSEN SOLVES CRIMES ON TELEVISION is a half-hour screwball comedy series that stars Ryan Hansen playing an exaggerated version of himself as an actor on the set of a new cop series for YouTube Red, who works with Jessica Mathers, who is his on-screen partner and real-life LAPD detective. In this show within a show, the LAPD has decided to use mid-level Hollywood celebrities as liaisons to help their detectives solve crimes, taking advantage of the performers' industry connections, memory techniques, and gifts of channeling characters. After the world premiere of the series first two episodes at Cinepolis Chelsea at 8:30pm ET on September 23, 2017 during the 2017 Tribeca TV Festival, Hansen, Samira Wiley, and Thurber discussed their spoof on classic police dramas. One month later -- on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 -- RYAN HANSEN SOLVES CRIMES ON TELEVISION had its official series premiere on YouTube Red. Guest stars in Season 1 include: Joel McHale, Donald Faison, Eric Christian Olsen, Kristen Bell, and more.
