Plot Synopsis

SALVAGE CITY is a one-hour reality series that follows Sam Coffey and his crew, as they rescue treasures from abandoned buildings in St. Louis and then transform that salvage into unique art pieces and furnishings. Coffey, a St. Louis native, works hard to preserve the heritage of his hometown, even at the risk of arrest or great bodily harm. With his wisecracking junkyard giant Chris Trotter, designer/business partner Mia Brown, and his loyal German Shepard Hektor by his side, the group breaks into abandoned buildings to rescue historic treasures doomed for a landfill. Then, the crew heads back to The Factory, where they create timeless pieces coveted by collectors. In each 60-minute episode, the crew searches for the city's history in a different area of St. Louis, including: a decaying burlesque theater and a vacant automotive showroom, and then tranforming a looted bowling pinsetter and a giant distilled water tank; Trotter's grandparents neighborhood, where they grab a birthing sink from one of the city's first African-American hospitals and a chandelier from a seminal jazz and blues club; and a massive six-million square-foot sand mine abandoned in the 1980s, where they build a custom pirate salvage boat to find underwater treasures. Discovery aired three, back-to-back installments of SALVAGE CITY on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 11am-2pm ET/PT, but had no other episodes scheduled at that time.
