Plot Synopsis

In each 60-minute episode, four two-person teams build elaborate sand sculptures in a three-round competition, as they vie for the $10,000 grand prize. At the end of each round, the beach audience votes on the sculptures, with the losing team eliminated after watching their work-in-progress get destroyed with dynamite. For the third and final round, the two eliminated competitors are invited to participate as a four-person comeback team, with the winner of that round crowned champion and awarded $10,000. This two-part special was filmed at Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida, where sand sculptors created: a boy riding a home-made rocket; a castle with an elderly couple; a very eccentric-looking light bulb coming out of a person's head; life-sized monkeys, fairies, mermaids and dolphins; and a cat planning to blow up a dog house.
