Plot Synopsis

SAVAGE BUILDS is a one-hour reality series that follows Adam Savage as he takes on the biggest and baddest builds of his career while collaborating with notable experts in their fields, friends, colleagues, and some of his favorite people on the planet.

"I've spent my life trying to make, create and push the boundaries of what's possible," said Savage. "This new series is a culmination of sorts, as I get to work with some of the most brilliant minds out there as we attempt to solve really absurd ideas that I've had in my head for a long time, but have never had the opportunity to dive into, until now. And of course, the most absurd ideas are often what generates the most innovative engineering."

In the series opener, "Building Iron Man," Adam calls on Richard Browning, the inventor and chief test pilot of the Gravity Jet Suit, which is powered by five 1000 horsepower mini jet engines, to help get Adam's titanium Marvel Studios' Iron Man-inspired suit to fly.

Other episodes include:

- Adam attempts to create a working version of one of history's most notorious engineering failures, the British military's World War II rocket-propelled explosive weapon, The Great Panjandrum. Helping with the design is the lead engineer of the Mars Science Lab's EDL (Entry, Descent, Landing phase), NASA engineer Adam Steltzner.

- Inventor, maker and roboticist Simone Giertz, and maker Laura Kampf help Adam build three monsters of destruction inspired by Mad Max and other post-apocalyptic worlds using only junk cars and the materials they can salvage from a scrapyard.

- Adam sets out to forge his own version of King Arthur's legendary sword Excalibur -- using the iron from a meteorite.

- Adam does a deep dive into the infamously deadly, impact-sensitive explosive nitroglycerin -- and stages a series of daring and dangerous tests to see if this legendarily volatile and unstable explosive lives up to the legend.

- Adam, with the help of his friend Gary Oldman, seeks to build a multi-functional weapon inspired by the classic film The Fifth Element.

- It's absurd engineering taken to the extreme as Adam stages a Mega Food Fight for the ages -- after all, what's more absurd than figuring out how to make a rapid fire hot dog gun? Adam's competition for this challenge? His old Mythbusters pal Tory Belleci.

- Adam travels to New Zealand to meet up with esteemed filmmaker Peter Jackson to indulge one of the director's many passions, World War I. Jackson has a world-class collection of WWI fighter planes -- totally authentic except for the fact that the machine guns don't fire real ammunition, so actual "dogfights" are off the menu. Adam wants to remedy that situation with the most ambitious, high-tech and high-flying aerial dogfight ever attempted.

On Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10pm-Midnight ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered the season finale of SAVAGE BUILDS, debuting back-to-back new episodes:

"Dogfight Derby" (10pm): Adam teams up with Lord of the Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson to restore a deadly fleet of fighter planes, and using cutting-edge tech, they stage a high-flying dogfight straight out of WWI.

"Mega Food Fight" (11pm): Adam teams up with MYTHBUSTERS pal Tory Belleci to stage the world's most epic food fight, and using the latest science and tech, they build a rapid-fire weapon that turns hot dogs into destructive projectiles.
