Plot Synopsis

Hosted by journalist Mikey Kay, SAVING HEROES is a one-hour series that highlights efforts of police officers, first responders, firefighters, members of the U.S. military and ordinary citizens who risked their lives to save others. Each 60-minute episode follows the story of two heroes (or foundations helping heroes), including: Gunnery Sergeant Thomas McRae, who lost both legs and his left arm when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan in 2012 and now NASCAR steps in to help raise funds for a smart home; firefighter Robbie Boyd, who saved a young boy who broke his neck skimboarding and was recently awarded a Medal of Valor; Sgt. Eddie Ryan, a scout/sniper wounded in Iraq, who is reunited with his heroes for the shark fishing trip of a lifetime in Montauk; America's VetDogs from Smithtown, NY, where canines are more than man's best friends -- they're also companions, assistants, partners and heroes; Retired SSG Erik Olson, a highly decorated Special Forces soldier, who counsels soldiers who have trouble transitioning home through hunting and the outdoors; Tiffany Cloud Olson, the author of "Sleeping With Dog Tags"; Operation Enduring Warrior, which provides wounded military service members with physical, mental and emotional rehabilitation that's modeled to overcome adversity and hardship through innovation, teamwork and perseverance; and many more heroes.
