Plot Synopsis

SAVING PRIVATE K-9 highlights military dogs battlefield training, heroic accomplishments, and relationships with their handlers -- as well as their impact on those who have worked with them. From Afghanistan to Vietnam, to our own soil, working dogs have protected their handlers and the teams they work with, and now it's their time to shine. Each 30-minute episode of Season 1, hosted by former Marine R. Lee Ermey, featured a different canine, including: Remy (and human companion Dan Traeder); Zeke (and human companion Captain Ty Meik; and many more four-legged heroes.
On Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, Sportsman Channel premiered the second season of SAVING PRIVATE K-9, with Lt. Col. Oliver North as the host for the new season. The season opener featured Jony and Sgt. Riddle, who were required to lead the pack while on deployment in Afghanistan, as their bomb-sniffing skills helped clear the way for fellow soldiers. Jony's detection skills led to the discovery of more than 3,800 pounds of explosives, so it was no surprise when the Marine Corps chose them to lead the way on a mission thought to be one of the more dangerous in the area. Jony and Sgt. Riddle embarked on a routine foot patrol to begin a search that would -- unknowingly and unpredictably -- change their lives.
