Plot Synopsis

Olivia Pope and her staff are professional fixers who provide crisis management services when corporations, politicians, celebrities and public figures are faced with scandals. Each week, the team races against the clock to defuse new problems. Olivia is a formidable, driven, insightful, intuitive and fearless woman who once notoriously worked for President Fitzgerald Grant, helped get him elected, and has vowed to end her relationship with him after having an affair. Her team includes: Quinn, an ambitious and naive young lawyer; Harrison, one of Olivia's top lawyers and a slick litigator who hired Quinn and already has eyes for her; Huck, a paralegal who is also an expert hacker; and Abby, a tireless investigator, who had an enduring crush on Stephen, a member of the team in Season 1 who, despite being an intense and brilliant litigator, had dated his share of women, getting him in trouble. Fitzgerald Grant is the charismatic Kennedy-esque U.S. President who has Olivia on speed dial, while the President's wife, Mellie Grant, and right-hand man, Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene, both use the President's affair to serve their own agenda. At the start of Season 2, Quinn's identity is finally revealed, and the more the Pope & Associates team learn about her past, the more they realize she could be their biggest scandal yet. In the Season 3 opener, both the White House and Pope & Associates face their biggest scandal to date and form a surprise allegiance, because Olivia's name is out there as the President's mistress. Meanwhile, Olivia's father, Rowan, will stop at nothing to carry out his orders and no one, including Olivia, can stand in his way. SCANDAL returned for its fourth season on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT. The season opener, "Randy, Red, Superfreak and Julia," picks up nearly two months after Olivia and Jake boarded a private jet to stand in the sun together, everything has changed. With another four years in the White House, Fitz and Cyrus are doing everything they can to make a positive impact on the nation. Meanwhile, Mellie struggles to cope with the loss of her son and the gladiators feel the impact of Olivia's absence. The Season 4 winter premiere picks up right where the finale left off, this time from Olivia's point of view. Exactly what happened when Jake went to the bedroom? Who took Olivia and where did she go? The fight of Olivia's life will begin. SCANDAL returned for its fifth season on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "Heavy Is the Head," Olivia and Fitz are back together again and enjoying every scandalous moment together while Cyrus, Mellie and Huck are all still dealing with the aftermath of helping Command. Meanwhile, when a visit from the Queen of Caldonia and her family turns into a tragedy, Olivia is hired to make sure the Royal family's private life stays private. Season 6 of SCANDAL premiered Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "Survival of the Fittest," the election results for the presidential race between Mellie Grant and Francisco Vargas are announced, and the shocking results lead to an explosive outcome. The seventh and final season of SCANDAL premiered on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC, with a brand new White House administration that includes Mellie Grant as the first female president of the United States, Cyrus Beane as the vice president, and Olivia Pope as Mellie's chief of staff. Olivia also doubles as the head of the newly reinstated top secret government agency B6-13, with Jake Ballard working by her side. Expectant mother Quinn Perkins is now head of the newly inherited crisis management firm QPA (Quinn Perkins and Associates), with Abby Whelan as her right-hand woman, and Huck and Charlie as her dedicated gladiators. Meanwhile, former POTUS Fitzgerald Grant III is focused on maintaining his legacy by building his library and foundation with the help of Marcus Walker. And although Rowan Pope's role reversal with Olivia initially proves to be a struggle, he always has something up his sleeve. David Rosen remains the attorney general of the United States. In the season opener, "Watch Me," 100 days into Mellie's presidency, Olivia Pope is proving she can run the world; but to avoid an international incident, she may have to make her toughest call yet. Meanwhile, Quinn Perkins & Associates struggle to find their first client.
