Plot Synopsis

This spinoff of THE GOLDBERGS is set in 1990-something and follows the faculty of William Penn Academy, led by new music teacher and WP graduate Lainey Lewis, Principal Glascott, Coach Mellor and young, enthusiastic super-teacher Charlie Brown, or CB for short. Despite their eccentricities and crazy personal lives, these teachers are heroes to their students. The series opens with the "Be Like Mike" episode, as Lainey, who still hasn't achieved rock 'n' roll greatness, returning to WP as a music teacher. She has a hard time adjusting to being an authority figure, but she realizes she might not be so bad at it when she discovers a kindred spirit in Principal Glascott's niece, Felicia. Meanwhile, Coach Mellor struggles with Michael Jordan's influence on modern-day basketball. Guest starring: Wendi McLendon-Covey as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt as the voice of Adult Adam, David Koechner as Bill Lewis, Stephen Tobolowsky as Earl Ball, Rachel Crow as Felicia, Sean Marquette as Johnny Atkins, Zachary Haven as Aaron Finkle, Roni Akurati as Sanjeev, Philip Jeanmarie as Producer, Hunter Doohan as Matty, Kyson Facer as Duffy, Connor Rosen as Howie Levy, Johnny Lee Paddio Jr. as Baby Back Ribs Singer, Erik Brooks as Baby Back Ribs Singer and Thomas Hobson as Baby Back Ribs Singer.

SCHOOLED first aired as a back-door pilot episode of THE GOLDBERGS on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT on ABC. This special event episode, "1990-Something," picks up where the Goldberg family leaves off at William Penn Academy in the 1990s as former teacher and now Head of School John Glascott leads a faculty of teachers with wildly different views on how to mentor students and recruits his tough-as-nails-sister Lucy to join his staff and enroll her teenage daughters Felicia and Gigi as new students. Lucy is desperate to ensure they avoid the social pitfalls of high school and finds herself torn between Glascott's nurturing and communicative approach to parenting and Coach Mellor's tough-guy belief that physical competition brings out the best in students. Even Beverly Goldberg comes to visit the school's staff despite all her kids having already graduated and can't help but meddle one last time.

The sophomore season of SCHOOLED premiered on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 8:30pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "Dangerous Minds," summer is over, and on her first day back, Lainey is excited to be back at William Penn Academy -- but Mellor warns her that being a pal to her students is not a good idea. Meanwhile, Principal Glascott introduces the newest science teacher to the faculty, but CB is skeptical of her no-nonsense approach. On Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 8:30pm ET/PT, ABC debuted "Boy Bands," the winter premiere of SCHOOLED. Wilma encourages Ronnie to pursue his dreams of being in a boy band but goes too far when a music video gets out for all of William Penn to see. Meanwhile, the school hires Aunt Julie as the new school nurse which quickly affects her relationship with Coach Mellor.
