Plot Synopsis

Using a combination of first-hand accounts, expert insight and remarkable footage, SEA RESCUE highlights the work of dedicated veterinarians, animal care experts, and animal science researchers at SeaWorld marine parks -- primarily in San Diego and Orlando -- when they rescue, rehabilitate and return marine animals to the wild. The San Diego SeaWorld has performed more than 6,000 rescues during the past 40 years, and has been successful at saving the animal 70% of the time. Its most famous rescue, which will be the focus of the third episode, was the 1990s rescue of a prematurely born California gray whale calf, which SeaWorld returned to the ocean one year later to rejoin the northern migration off the coast of San Diego. Plus, this series provides helpful hints and tips to kids, showing how certain actions can help, or hurt, marine life -- for example, one episode shows what happens to sea lions, seals, dolphins and whales when used fishing lines are discarded in the ocean. This series is part of Litton Entertainment's programming block, "Litton's Weekend Adventure," which includes six, half-hour, hi-def educational and informational series on Saturday mornings (check local listings) on ABC affiliates across the United States. SEA RESCUE returned for its third season on Saturday, October 5, 2013, with a season opener that found a baby dolphin getting tangled in fishing gear and the cops finding a turtle floating in water and in dire need of help.
Season 4 premiered the weekend of Saturday, October 4, 2014 on ABC, as rescue team overcomes one challenge after another in an epic, 17-day operation to save a humpback whale that is tangled up in fishing gear and desperately needs help.
