Plot Synopsis

Based on Alyssa Shelasky column about sex and dating in New York Magazine, SEX DIARIES is a half-hour docuseries that follows eight New Yorkers, as they navigate sex and dating in the city. The in short, intimate, verite portraits are woven together with video diaries that share personal reflections on dating, cultivating relationships and exploring sexual desire, and include check-ins with Alyssa Shelasky, editor of New York Magazine's "Sex Diaries" column, as diarists recount the ups and downs of their experiences. Each 30-minute episode features two stories, including:

"The Bartender Seeking Lovers": A non-monogamous bartender finds herself rekindling with her former boyfriend

"The Educator Exploring Open Relationships": An educator explores opening up their relationship.

"The Woman Unlocking Her Heart (and Door)": A woman hopes her pandemic relationship survives out in the real world.

"The Engineer Cultivating Love": A software engineer explores his latex fetish with his partner.

"The Podcaster Navigating Hook-Ups": A podcaster navigates casual relationships in the age of hook-up apps.

"The Poly Woman Loving Long-Distance": A polyamorous sex educator enjoys a threesome with a new partner.

"The Truck Driver Learning Love Is Messy": An ice cream truck driver's commitment issues affect her relationship.

"The Dad Finding Love on TikTok": A gay widower and father forms a relationship over social media.
