Plot Synopsis

Based on the series of "Shannara" books by Terry Brooks, THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES is a one-hour series that follows three heroes -- Elf-Human hybrid Wil, Elvin Princess Amberle, and Human Rover Eretria -- as they embark on a quest to stop an evil Demon army from destroying the world. The series opens thousands of years after the fall of Humankind, when the Four Lands is in grave danger. The fate of the world rests on the shoulders of an unlikely trio: an Elvin Princess who dreams of a life outside of the palace walls; a beautiful, wild and wily Human Rover; and a half-elf, who knows nothing of the great destiny that runs through his veins. Having seen an apocalyptic vision of the world's destruction, Amberle leaves the palace in search of answers. But when Wil and Allanon realize that she is the key to saving the Four Lands, they set out to find the princess before the Dagda Mor's Demons hunt her down. On Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, MTV premiered "An Introduction," a 10-minute special that introduces viewers to the rich world of Shannara and the characters that reside within it. THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES premiered on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 10-11:50pm ET/PT on MTV, with simulcasts on MTV2, TV Land, and TeenNick. Season 2 of THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES premiered on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on its new network: Spike TV. The 10-episode second season picks up a year after the events of last season, with The Four Lands in chaos. The re-emergence of magic has the populace terrified, and an organization called The Crimson is hunting down magic users, using fear and intimidation to sow discord among the races. Wil, scarred by the loss of Amberle and his separation from Eretria, has turned his back on his magical destiny to become a healer. But when a mysterious woman named Mareth (new cast member Malese Jow) saves Wil from a Crimson attack, he is forced to rejoin the fight. In addition to returning cast members Manu Bennett (Allanon), Aaron Jakubenko (Ander) and Marcus Vanco (Bandon), the series welcomes additional new cast members Vanessa Morgan (Lyria), Gentry White (Garet), Caroline Chikezie (Queen Tamlin), and Desmond Chiam (General Riga). In the season opener, "Druid," a year after the War of the Forbidding, Wil's new life is interrupted by a mysterious new figure. Eretria is reunited with someone from her past. Meanwhile, Allanon uncovers a plot that could send the Four Lands into darkness.
