Plot Synopsis

Created by OFFICE SPACE's Mike Judge, this half-hour comedy explores the modern-day epicenter of the high-tech gold rush in California's Silicon Valley, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success. Richard is an introverted computer programmer living in the Hacker Hostel, a communal start-up incubator, along with best friend Big Head, pompous Gilfoyle, and dry-witted Dinesh. These social misfits live under the watch of Erlich, a self-satisfied dotcom millionaire who lets them stay in his house for free -- as long as he gets a ten percent stake in their projects. After a failed pitch to billionaire venture capitalist Peter Gregory, Richard seems destined to remain at his job at the tech company Hooli, founded by the megalomaniacal Gavin Belson. But, when Monica, Gregory's head of operations, and Jared, a Hooli executive, realize the value of the site's compression algorithm that Richard developed for his Pied Piper app, a bidding war erupts between Belson and Gregory. Belson offers $10 million, but Richard holds out for Gregory's counteroffer, which includes a contingency that he deliver a viable business plan that includes a slimmed-down staff. Meanwhile, Belson begins to hype a competing compression platform, Richard learns Pied Piper is already registered to a sprinkler company, and Erlich goes on a vision quest for a new company name. SILICON VALLEY returned for its second season on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. After taking the tech world by storm last season at TechCrunch Disrupt, Richard and rest of the Pied Piper team -- Erlich, Jared, Dinesh and Gilfoyle -- look ahead to a bright and profitable future. But their success may be in jeopardy, thanks to big changes at Raviga, the company created by Peter Gregory, and Nucleus, the competing compression platform launched by Hooli CEO Gavin Belson. Season 3 of SILICON VALLEY premiered on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. On the heels of Pied Piper's legal victory, Richard has been ousted as CEO and is offered the diminished role of CTO, while the rest of his team -- Erlich, Jared, Dinesh and Gilfoyle -- faces the question of just how far their loyalty extends. With a new no-nonsense CEO hell-bent on transforming everything from Pied Piper's offices to its business agenda, the guys must find a way to triumph in the war of Art vs. Commerce, negotiating the many competing interests along the way. Meanwhile, as Gavin Belson works to rehabilitate Hooli's image following his blunders, Big Head finds himself in a new partnership, and at Raviga, Laurie holds her cards close to the vest and Monica tries to look out for Pied Piper's best interests. New guest stars this season include Stephen Tobolowsky as Jack Barker, Pied Piper's new CEO, and Annie Sertich as tech blogger C.J. Cantwell. The 10-episode fourth season of SILICON VALLEY premiered on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. Change is in the air as the Pied Piper guys pursue their video-chat app, PiperChat, but Richard has a hard time letting go of his dream to put his algorithm to better use. Dinesh flirts with notoriety, while Gilfoyle looks on in amusement. Erlich searches for his next big break. Jared attempts to pivot with the company. And Big Head enters the world of academia. Meanwhile, over at Hooli, Gavin finds himself threatened by Jack Barker, while Monica struggles to bounce back at Raviga after her fallout with Laurie. The season opens in the wake of Pied Piper's clickfarm scandal, the guys struggle to find funding for Pied Piper's video-chat app to keep up with their rapidly growing user base. Erlich faces resistance from Big Head's dad, while Gavin balks after Jack steps on his toes at Hooli. Having a hard time adjusting to his company's pivot, Richard gets sage advice from an unexpected source, leading him to a big idea that could change his future.
On Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, HBO premiered the Season 4 finale of SILICON VALLEY. In the season ender, "Server Error," Richard finds himself in a web of lies; Jared plans his exit; Jack bets big; Gavin plots a comeback. One month earlier -- on May 25 -- HBO renewed SILICON VALLEY for a fifth season.
