Plot Synopsis
Directed by Dawn Porter, THE SING SING CHRONICLES is a four-part documentary that tells the story of a journalist, Dan Slepian, and Jon-Adrian "JJ" Velazquez, a man convicted of murder, who begin as strangers but become like brothers. Their unlikely connection, forged in the cell blocks of Sing Sing Correctional Facility, ignites a search for justice in four unrelated homicide cases. Using an archive of more than 1,000 hours of footage filmed from 2002 to present day, the series follows two decades of Slepian's work as he investigates the convictions in a relentless pursuit of the truth. Velazquez was incarcerated nearly 24 years for a crime he did not commit, and now he is the program director for the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice where he leads the organization's National Prison Visitation Program. THE SING SING CHRONICLES premieres from 9-11pm ET/6-8pm PT on MSNBC on consecutive nights, beginning Saturday, November 23, 2024:
"Murder at the Palladium" (Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 9pm)
