Plot Synopsis
Directed by Sam Jones, SMARTLESS: ON THE ROAD is a six-part docuseries that follows Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes during the North American tour of their hit podcast to these cities: Boston, Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Madison, Wisconsin, and Los Angeles. Traveling from city to city all over the country, the trio is joined by celebrities such as Conan O'Brien, Will Ferrell, Matt Damon, Jimmy Kimmel, Kevin Hart, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, David Letterman, and other surprise guests. All six episodes of SMARTLESS: ON THE ROAD dropped on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 on Max, the same day the streaming service launched with its new name, replacing HBO Max:
"Tuxedos and Cool Sunglasses": Will, Jason, and Sean kick off the tour in Washington, DC, and nervously prep for their first live show ever with special guest Will Ferrell
"Sashimi!": The boys brave an ice storm in Boston with special guests Conan O'Brien and MIT physicist Max Tegmark.
"Sorry, Did I Lean on Your Laugh?": The guys hit the Big Apple with guests David Letterman and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, plus an extra-special cameo
"Portillo's for the Burp": The guys head to Sean's hometown of Chicago with special guests Andy Richter, Jeff Tweedy and Mark Cuban.
"For Tracey in Wisconsin": A very special Madison show with Matt Damon and a visit from Sean's sister (and fan-favorite), Tracey.
"Time Flies Byeeee": The guys finish out their tour in Los Angeles with special guests Kevin Hart and Jimmy Kimmel.
