Plot Synopsis

SNAKE SALVATION is a reality series that follows Pastors Jamie Coots and Andrew Hamblin, as they lead congregations in the religious ritual of snake handling in the heart of Appalachia. Pentecostals who call themselves Holiness followers have been handling deadly snakes for more than 100 years in the United States. Since its founding, there have been as many as 100 reported deaths from church-related snake bites. For nearly 20 years, Pastor Jamie has led the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name, founded by his grandfather, in Middlesboro, KY. His father, Greg, was also a snake-handling minister, and Jamie's son 'Little Cody' hopes to one day carry on the family tradition. Meanwhile, Pastor Andrew used to be a member of Pastor Jamie's congregation, but 22-year-old pastor moved to Tennessee to start his own church of sign followers, Tabernacle Church of God. He's still working to prove himself to his flock, and he's struggling to provide for his wife, Elizabeth, and their five children. In this half-hour series, they do whatever it takes to provide for their immediate families and their extended families in their congregations. Whether they're trying to capture venomous snakes before they go into hibernation for the Winter, adding new specimens to their snake collections through hunts and purchases, implementing a succession plan for the congregations if they are killed by a snake bite, or holding an outdoor snake-handling service on the front lawn of a church member who needs help, these two pastors hope to reignite their congregations' devotion to god and cast out demons.
