Plot Synopsis

Hosted by three-time soccer Olympic gold medalist Heather Mitts, SOCCER SUPERSTAR is a half-hour reality series that searches America for the next best teen female soccer player. From hundreds of hopefuls, a panel of judges -- National Soccer Hall of Famer Marcelo Balboa, two-time Olympic gold medalist Angela Hucles and youth development expert Dan Metcalfe -- decides who is eliminated based on their performances in training, competitive games and various soccer challenges on the field (penalty kicks, kick ups, beep test fitness) and personality challenges off the field (ballet, beach volleyball). In Season 1, a team of 15 finalists plays on the Final Squad, competing for the title of Soccer Superstar. This series features interviews with soccer professionals, including 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Champions Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, and Amy Rodriguez, and training challenges led by former soccer professionals Lorrie Fair, Cobi Jones and Mario Melchiot, and Olympic Beach Volleyball silver medalists Jen Kessy and April Ross. NickToons aired the entire four-part first season as a four-night TV event, showing one episode per night for four consecutive nights -- Wednesday, July 8 through Saturday, July 11 -- at 9pm ET/PT as part of its NickSports programming block. Season 2 of SOCCER SUPERSTAR premiered on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as NickToons premiered back-to-back new episodes as part of the cable channel's NickSports programming block. Heather Mitts returns as host and Marcelo Balboa, Angela Hucles, and Dan Metcalfe all come back as judges for a second season. In Season 2, the players compete for the opportunity to meet and train with a National Women's Soccer League team and a shot at being the next Soccer Superstar. The second season also features interviews with soccer professionals, including members of the National Women's Soccer League -- Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, Ali Krieger, Crystal Dunn and Kelley O'Hara -- and training challenges led by former soccer professionals Karina LeBlanc and Aly Wagner along with LA Galaxy's Steven Gerrard. On their journey, the players complete soccer drills and also compete in non-soccer challenges led by guest judges, including top Ladies Professional Golf Association players Danielle Kang and Belen Mozo, magician Ed Alonzo, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE runner-up Cyrus Spencer, and professional surfer Anastasia Ashley.
On Friday, July 29, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, NickToons premiered the Season 2 finale of SOCCER SUPERSTARS, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the night's first new episode (10pm), "Seven Superstars," seven girls remain who make it to the final. Then, in the season finale (10:30pm), "The Final," only one girl can win the crown of Soccer Superstar 2016.
