Plot Synopsis

In this weekly travel series, host Ali Nejad enlists his nearly one million online Twitter followers to help him find off-the-beaten-path personalities and sites on his journey to uncover the food, art, music, and local curiosities that make each city special. In each city, Ali connects with the locals in a unique way, while giving one of his Twitter followers or tour guides a special surprise, helping them live their lifelong dreams. Each half-hour episode of THE SOCIAL LIFE features a different city, including: Pittsburgh, where Ali checks out the Steel City's Duquesne Incline and The Strip District; Seattle, where Ali links up with a mural artist, a local chef, and the staff at "Real Change," a project giving homeless people in the city a much-needed voice; Charleston, SC, where Ali explores the people at the Charleston City Market, learns about the history of Gullah, and visits Brackish Bow Ties; Boulder, CO, where Ali checks out the funky street performer scene, takes part in a Tajikistani tea ceremony at Dushanbe Tea House, and visits a legal marijuana dispensary; and many more cities across the United States.
