Plot Synopsis

SOFIA THE FIRST is an animated series that tells the story of Sofia, an ordinary girl who becomes a princess, and her journey as she learns that possessing the characteristics of a true princess -- honesty, loyalty, compassion and grace -- is what makes one truly royal. At Sofia's new school, Royal Prep Academy, where the beloved fairies from SLEEPING BEAUTY -- Fauna, Flora and Merryweather -- are the headmistresses, she learns to fit in, build sibling relationships, make new friends, discover how to be brave, and master new skills and good sportsmanship. Each episode is designed with stories that provide young children with such fundamental lessons about developing social and emotional skills to help prepare them for life. Sofia does not take the journey alone though, because she can rely on her loyal and caring mother, Queen Miranda, her wise-talking rabbit sidekick, Clover, the castle's royal steward, Baileywick, and her flying horse, Minimus. Plus, classic Disney Princesses Ariel, Aurora, Belle and Jasmine make special appearances in event episodes throughout the year, offering Sofia words of wisdom when she needs them most. On Friday, March 7, 2014 at 9:30am ET/PT, Disney Channel aired the Season 2 premiere of SOFIA THE FIRST. The new season included appearances by Disney Princesses Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na Wen), Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose) and Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore). Guest voices for Season 2 included: Alyson Hannigan as a young faun who felt she wasn't special enough; Ginnifer Goodwin as the Castle's kitchen maid who aspires to be an inventor; Melissa Rauch as Ruby's fairy godmother; Anna Camp and John Michael Higgins as a charmingly sinister princess and a tall fire-breathing dragon; Isla Fisher and Sean Astin as two adventurous young sprites; Nick Offerman as a well-connected fox who reigns over Enchancia's woodland creatures; Robert Morse as an elderly retired sorcerer; Christian Borle as an ambitious Castle steward out to take Baileywick's job; Oliver Platt as a sickly old dragon; Tracey Ullman as a happily wicked witch; and Phylicia Rashad as a cranky ice witch who eventually allows her heart to be melted by the power of music.
Season 4 of SOFIA THE FIRST premiered on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:30am ET/PT on Disney Channel. In the season opener, "Day of the Sorcerers," after a secret meeting of sorcerers, Cedric must choose between taking over the kingdom and maintaining his friendship with Sofia.
