Plot Synopsis

Set in the Outer Rim territories in between STAR WARS Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) and Episode IV (A New Hope), the story unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy. Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people. The motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost -- cowboy Jedi Kanan, ace pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the "muscle" Zeb, warrior firebrand Sabine, and cantankerous old astromech droid Chopper -- is among a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, they face threatening new villains, encounter adversaries, embark on adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion. On Friday, October 3, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, Disney premiered a one-hour episode, "Spark of Rebellion," which was alternately called a premiere, special and one-hour movie, before the series moved to its regular channel and timeslot on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Disney XD for the official series premiere. In the Season 1 finale, "Fire Across the Galaxy," the rebels must infiltrate the heart of an Imperial fleet to rescue Kanan. This leads to an epic battle between Kanan, Ezra, and the Inquisitor, and results in the destruction of Tarkin's flagship. Consequently, Imperial security on Lothal is strengthened, making their missions even more difficult in the future. Hera calls in help. But so does the Empire. On Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on Disney XD with a special one-hour movie, "The Siege of Lothal." After an absence while fighting with the rebel fleet, the Rebel crew returns to Lothal to save a defecting Imperial officer, only to be confronted by Darth Vader. Sarah Michelle Gellar will join the voice cast in a recurring role for Season 2, which Executive Producer/Supervising Director Dave Filoni announced in the hours after the Season 1 finale. Filoni said, "We're thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for Season 2. She is a true STAR WAR REBELS fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions." Season 2 of STAR WARS REBELS premiered on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 9:30pm ET/PT on Disney XD. In the second season, past lives will be revealed and the destiny of our heroes will be changed forever. The transformative new season resumes with Imperial oppression on Lothal growing stronger and the rebels seeking out new allies and additional resources to sustain their fight against the evil Empire. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, the crew of the Ghost enlists some old friends: ex-clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars. As the rebels grow in number, so do their enemies. New Inquisitors are dispatched by Darth Vader and sent to crush any threat of rebellion. Through dangerous rescue missions, thrilling space chases, and spectacular lightsaber duels -- the bond of our rebel crew will be put to the test like never before. Disney XD premiered Season 3 of STAR WARS REBELS on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 8:30-9:30pm ET/PT, introducing new characters Grand Admiral Thrawn and Bendu during the Season 3 one-hour premiere event, "Steps into Shadow.". Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In the new season, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet -- a direct assault on the Empire. Returning voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, Captain Gregor and Commander Wolffe, Sam Witwer as Darth Maul and David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus. New to this season are Tom Baker as the intriguing Force-wise Bendu and Lars Mikkelsen as the Star Wars Legends fan-favorite Grand Admiral Thrawn. In making the Season 3 announcement, Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD said, "We are proud to bring our audience a third season of STAR WARS REBELS, a series that has resonated across generations." Buhaj added, "The creative team behind the series continues to do a brilliant job in delivering on the key tenets that fans have come to expect from a Star Wars property, including adventure, hope and the battle between good vs. evil." STAR WARS REBELS returned for its 15-episode fourth and final season beginning Monday, October 16, 1017, with broadcast times at 12:30am, 3am, 7:30am, 5:30pm and 9pm. The one-hour season opener, "Heroes of Mandalore," marks the beginning of the most important mission yet for the Ghost crew as the series draws closer to its grand finale. In this final season, the Ghost crew joins the growing Rebel Alliance, struggling to unite against the Galactic Empire. However, when a new Imperial threat arises on Lothal, Ezra leads the crew back to his home world to defeat the oppressive forces of the Empire under the command of cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn. Old friends are reunited and new alliances are forged as the series builds to its epic conclusion. The returning voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, David Oyelowo as Kallus, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Warwick Davis joins the cast this season as Rukh, Admiral Thrawn's deadly assassin. New episodes were scheduled to debut on Mondays at 12:30am, 3am, 7:30am, 5:30pm and 9pm through the rest of the Fall season, but Disney XD changed the schedule after the season premiere, showing new episodes from 9-10pm on Mondays with encore presentations later in the week. The final episodes of STAR WARS REBELS unfold over three weeks, with two back-to-back episodes premiering every Monday night on Disney XD, until its epic 90-minute conclusion on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 8:30pm. Plus, the new episodes are released on the DisneyNOW App at 10pm EST each night, immediately following their television premiere. Emperor Palpatine makes his series debut in these final episodes, voiced by actor Ian McDiarmid who reprises this iconic role from the STAR WARS live-action films.
