Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1985, THE STELLAR AWARDS have honored the best in gospel music in 28 different categories. From 1986 through 2008, THE STELLAR AWARDS were a live-to-tape celebration, airing only in national syndication, starting approximately one week after the ceremony. In 2009, GMC aired THE STELLAR AWARDS for the first time, but only after the ceremony's syndicated run was over. After the same broadcast arrangement in 2010, GMC aired the live-to-tape 2011 awards on the same day as the event's syndicated premiere. In 2013, the event was broadcast live for the first time by GMC and then again in 2014 on UP. Starting with 2015, THE STELLAR AWARDS was again a live-to-tape celebration, now broadcast by TV One each year.
Hosted by Jekalyn Carr & Kierra Sheard, THE 2022 STELLAR AWARDS premiered on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 8-10pm ET/PT on BET and BET Her after being taped at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA, on Saturday, July 16. The 37th STELLAR GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS will feature performances by Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, Maranda Curtis, Ricky Dillard, Kelontae Gavin, Rudy Currence, Chrisette Michele, DOE, James Fortune, Jason Nelson, Travis Greene, Darrel Walls, and Jor'Dan Armstrong.
