Plot Synopsis

Based on George Pendle's book of the same name, which was inspired by the real-life story of Jack Parsons, STRANGE ANGEL is a drama series that explores the dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction. Jack Parsons, a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles, works as a janitor at a chemical factory but dreams of building rockets that will take mankind to the moon. As he helps pioneer the unknown discipline of rocket science by day, by night, Parsons is pulled into a new occult religion created by Aleister Crowley, performing sex magick rituals to bend the world to his will and make his fantastical dreams a reality. CBS All Access released the first episode of STRANGE ANGEL on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. In the series opener, "Augurs of Spring," the pressures of his double life are further complicated when Jack and his wife Susan are confronted by a mysterious new neighbor, Ernest Donovan, who appears to be leading a double life of his own.

CBS All Access released the Season 2 premiere of STRANGE ANGEL on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. At the conclusion of the first season, Jack and his team from Caltech made a scientific breakthrough that secured the military's interest as the country neared the brink of war. In season two, the U.S. is fully engaged in World War II, transforming Jack's rocketry work into a lucrative business and further entrenching him in the military-industrial complex. While Jack's career takes off, he and his wife Susan's devotion to their new occult religion grows, leading them to invite the sex cult into their Pasadena mansion and Jack to forge a personal relationship with the group's notorious founder, Aleister Crowley himself. Angus Macfadyen joins the cast in Season 2 as Aleister Crowley. In the season opener, "The Fool," the U.S. Military offers Jack, Richard and the Aerojet team a classified mission that could turn the tide of World War II, but which comes with increased scrutiny of Jack's personal life. As Jack strives to straddle the worlds of mysticism and science, Virgil Byrne's crusade against the Agape Lodge forces Jack and Susan to offer the cult safe haven in their Pasadena mansion, only to have their lives further disrupted by the return of Ernest Donovan, who has come back to Los Angeles more broken than ever.
On Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, CBS All Access released "Aeon," the Season 2 finale of STRANGE ANGEL. Susan and Patty's relationship reaches a breaking point when Susan learns of her sister's indiscretions - nevertheless, they must join forces to use Virgil as a means to an end. After Marisol receives devastating news, she gains a new perspective on her relationship with Richard. Jack has a chance to get back into the military's good graces, but the conditions may be too tough to swallow. Yet with the Magus in jail, Jack's power within the Agape rises to new heights; however, the arrival of a new prospective tenant at the Parsonage threatens to change all that.
