Plot Synopsis

Taking place over 20 days over its 10 episodes and based on the novel of the same name but set several years before, SUBURRA is a crime thriller set in Rome in 2008 that describes how the Church, the state, organized crime, local gangs and real estate developers collide and blur the lines between the legal and the illicit in their quest for power. At the heart of the story three young men with different backgrounds, ambitions and passions will have to forge alliances to achieve their deepest desire. Tensions between rival gangs erupt while crime lord Samurai pulls politicians' strings. Samurai sinks his hooks into idealistic Cinaglia. Theodosiou's blackmailers try to silence a witness. Spadino chafes at his looming arranged marriage. Neflix released the entire 10-episode series globally on Friday, October 6, 2017.

Season 2 of SUBURRA premiered on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire eight-episode new season. As the fight for land, money and power intensifies, Aureliano, Spadino and Lele conspire to seize control of Rome's criminal underworld from Samurai. The season opens with Cinaglia awaiting his political campaign's results, and Samurai reasserting his control over Aureliano and Lele. Spadino makes a cunning play for power. Livia becomes a pawn -- and a target -- in the clash between Spadino and his mom. Sara seeks a new Vatican ally, and Cinaglia risks disobeying Samurai.

The six-episode third season of SUBURRA debuted on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT on Netflix. Word of a yearlong celebration organized by the Vatican -- and the vast revenue it will generate -- sparks a renewed fight to rule the streets of Rome. Season 3 opens with Samurai, Cinaglia and Badali scheming to cash in on the Vatican's Jubilee celebration while Spadino forms a chilling plan to pull Cinaglia's strings. Then, ambitious for yet more power, Aureliano and Spadino consolidate control of their alliance and turn their eyes to new turf: north Rome.
