Plot Synopsis

Is that home improvement project worth doing or not? SWEAT EQUITY brings in a realtor to estimate the list price of a home before the project starts. Then, licensed contractor Amy Matthews and her team of DIY Network experts help the homeowners tackle these projects themselves, giving tips and techniques for building equity every step of the way. When the work is done, the realtor returns to give a new estimate. Only then do the owners know how much sweat equity they made, but even if they make nothing they can still enjoy living in their new space. In Season 9, Amy works with homeowners on these projects: a mosaic backsplash in a new bathroom space; ripping out and building new stairs; magnetic leather floor tiles for a kitchen and dining room space; assembling a fire-pit table; installing square carpets; assembling a butcher block island for a kitchen; and many other home improvements.
