Plot Synopsis

TATTOO AGE is a half-hour documentary series that profiles some of the world's best tattoo artists, who discuss their craft, lives and careers, while revealing a portion of the story of modern tattooing. Featured tattoo artists include: Dan Santoro, Mike Rubendall, Grime, Troy Denning, Freddy Corbin, Valerie Vargas, Thom deVita, and more. TATTOO AGE is web series that premiered in short-form on July 2, 2011, and then made its television debut in long-form on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Viceland. As a web series, the story of a single tattooer was told over multiple short episodes, while the television series wove these webisodes into one 30-minute program. Season 2 of TATTOO AGE premiered on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Viceland. The second season continues to deliver an in-depth look at the state of tattooing today. Through profiles on some of the most important current and most influential artists of the last 50 years, creating a complete tapestry of this ever-evolving, living art form - from shops and styles, to the philosophy behind the art and the business. In the season opener, "The Master of All Tattoos: Chris Garver," Chris Garver's career mirrors tattoo's evolution from fringe to mainstream; Chris maintains the soul of an artist and respect of his peers.

On Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT, Viceland premiered "The Godfather of Modern Tattooing: Ed Hardy," the one-hour Season 2 finale of TATTOO AGE. Ed Hardy, known as the godfather of tattooing, increases its popularity and elevates it to a fine art; he no longer tattoos, but is dedicated to preserving its rich history.
