Plot Synopsis

Based on the play of the same name and set in Los Angeles, THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T SAY PAST MIDNIGHT is a half-hour comedy that examines a variety of modern-day relationships through the conceit that nothing good happens after midnight. During a late-night rendezvous at his university office, Ben, a young Jewish professor of English, and his girlfriend, Nancy, have an intimate encounter that takes an unexpected turn when she makes an anti-Semitic remark. Two 19-year-old sophomores, Phil and Leo, prepare to prank Dean Blackman, but Dawn, a university security guard, patrols the building, determined to not let anything ruin her night as she prepares for a tryst. Grace is having a late-night session with her therapist, Mark, who counsels her on her love life, challenges her to confront her penchant for younger men, and decides to set her up with his brother, a real 'John Wayne type,' who is very different than her past attractions. Estelle Abramson pesters her husband, Donald, to see a therapist for their sex life, but she doesn't know that he's been unhappily married for 40 years because of her constant jealousy and suspicion. At Donald's company, brothers Pedro 1 and Pedro 2 are just doing their job counting and stacking carpeting, but they end up being targeted by a hit man by morning.
