Plot Synopsis

In order for young chef Jack Tripper to live with two female roommates, Janet and Chrissy, they must pretend he's gay when they're around their moralistic landlord, Mr. Roper. Even when they get a new landlord years later, Jack keeps up the charade for Mr. Furley, who is also intolerant to such living conditions. Each episode centers on the trio's plight to keep Jack's sexuality a secret while surmounting misunderstandings with each other and those around them, all the while trying to pay the rent.
