Plot Synopsis

A team of archaeologists is assigned to a dig and are given only 72 hours to investigate the site and report its findings. In a field that's usually both labor and time intensive -- some sites take months or years to properly excavate -- this series puts scientists in the uncomfortable position of not having enough time to do a full investigation while still expecting a significant result or insight. With the clock ticking, teams use the latest technologies and decades of combined expertise to uncover something quickly without compromising the site. Host Colin Campbell guides each expedition, showing diggers, scientists and historians at work.

On Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT (check local listings), PBS aired the Season 2 premiere of TIME TEAM AMERICA, featuring a new host and two new scientists. Each of the four new episodes explores a different region and time in U.S. history through the eyes, ears and expertise of a team of adventurous archaeologists. In the second season, the team investigates: the bones of massive 10,000-year-old bison mingled with the remnants of early man-made weapons in western Oklahoma; the remains of Camp Lawton in Milan, Georgia, which housed 10,000 Union prisoners at the end of the Civil War; the remains of an 1830s plantation, which was once home to Josiah Henson, the slave who inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe's famous novel, "Uncle Tom's Cabin"; and much more. The first two episodes of TIME TEAM AMERICA debuted Tuesday, August 19, followed by the second two on August 26.
