Plot Synopsis

The key to solving the toughest homicides lies somewhere in the final hours of a victim's life. In each one-hour episode of A TIME TO KILL, determined investigators must piece together events during this critical window to reconstruct the timeline, unlock the motive, and ultimately close in on the killer. In the series opener, "The Body in the SUV," the badly decomposed body of Margarita Scott is found in the backseat of her estranged husband's missing SUV, and the investigators must interview everyone close to her to retrace her final steps.

The sophomore season of A TIME TO KILL debuted on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Bomb in Broad Daylight," a car explosion outside a Tucson country club leaves a business tycoon dead. Detectives determine the killer detonated the homemade bomb at close range, and the list of suspects soon includes mobsters, defrauded investors, and the victim's ex-wife.

Season 3 of A TIME TO KILL kicked off on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season premiere, "What Happened to Lauren?," a 27-year-old law student is reported missing, and when investigators later find a human torso in the trash can behind her apartment, it's undeniable that the two are related. Police in Macon, Georgia, must act fast to catch a cold-blooded killer.

The fourth season of A TIME TO KILL premiered on Thursday, August 2, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season's first episode, "To Stalk a Co-Ed," a college student is mercilessly strangled to death in her Bryan, Texas, apartment. Investigators are hard-pressed to find anyone who would want to kill such a bubbly and dynamic woman, but DNA discovered on the scene proves there's at least one.

A TIME TO KILL returned for its fifth season on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "The Freshman," high school freshman Tina Faelz ditches detention and heads for home -- but someone murders her along the way. Suspects are plentiful, including a known sex offender, but decades pass before two determined detectives finally deliver justice for Tina.
