Plot Synopsis
THE TIMELINE is a one-hour documentary series that chronicles seminal moments in National Football League (NFL) history that have shaped the leagues past and present, while, in some cases, setting the stage for the future. Pivotal moments explored by the series include the role football played during the Iran Hostage Crisis, the merger between the National Football League and the American Football League, and the Giants' landmark move from New York City to New Jersey. Season 2 of THE TIMELINE premiered on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, with a film that looks at how the events of Sept. 11, 2001 impacted the NFL, its players and its fans. It is narrated by Mary McDonald-Lewis. Two days later, the NFL kicked off its regular season on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. THE TIMELINE moved to its regular timeslot -- Wednesdays at 8pm ET/5pm PT -- the following week.
