Plot Synopsis

Based on the classic TV game show of the same name, this re-imagined version of TO TELL THE TRUTH is hosted by Anthony Anderson and features regular celebrity panelists Betty White, NeNe Leakes, and Jalen Rose, who are joined by a different celebrity guest in each episode. Plus, Anderson's mother, Doris, is also part of the fun, keeping score throughout the game. In each round the panel is presented with three people who all claim to be the same person with the same incredible talent, job or achievement. One is sworn to tell the truth while the others are not. The panel of celebrities has a chance to grill each participant before taking turns deciding who they think is telling the truth. TO TELL THE TRUTH premiered on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 on ABC with a sneak-peek episode at 8pm ET/PT and the official series premiere at 10pm, the show's regular timeslot. In the 8pm episode, Anthony has more than just his mother to worry about when Tracee Ellis Ross, his co-star and TV wife from BLACK-ISH, is part of the game. Guests include America's fastest texter, Taylor Swift's high school sweetheart and somebody who likes to think inside the box -- a contortionist. Then, in the 10pm episode, comedian Iliza Shlesinger joins the celebrity panel, with these guests: one of the highest grossing Tupperware sales people who just happens to be a drag queen; shark attack survivors; and somebody who jumps off buildings for a living -- while on fire!

Season 2 of TO TELL THE TRUTH premiered on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC, featuring Ashley Graham, Jalen Rose, Angela Kinsey and Donald Faison on the celebrity panel. In this episode the panel is faced with finding the national champion Sumo wrestler, the inventor of the hashtag, the creator of the language Dothraki used on GAME OF THRONES, an original dancer from SOUL TRAIN, and someone who has survived a bear attack.

The third season of TO TELL THE TRUTH premiered on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC, with Anthony Anderson returning as host. Octavia Spencer, Dermot Mulroney, Nikki Glaser and Gabby Douglas make up the celebrity panel on the season opener, and they are presented with a variety of participants with interesting stories -- from the world's fastest backward talker to a couple who has been married 112 times and the world's unluckiest rodeo clown. Other celebrities in the third season include: Mel Brooks, Joel McHale, Bill Hader & Natasha Leggero; Ashley Graham, Jenna Elfman, Donald Faison & Alex Trebek; Yvette Nicole Brown, Laverne Cox, Tony Hale & Jalen Rose; Oliver Hudson, Candace Cameron Bure, Kal Penn & Ross Mathews; Ashley Graham, Donald Faison, Craig Robinson & Adam Pally; Joel McHale, Sasheer Zamata, Constance Zimmer & Paul Reubens; Sherri Shepherd, Josh Malina, Ryan Hansen & Ayesha Curry; Theresa Caputo, Kal Penn, Denise Richards & Matt McGorry; Margaret Cho, Tony Hale, Justin Baldoni & Ron Funches; Sherri Shepherd, Lauren Ash, Curtis Stone & Joshua Malina.
