Each New Year's Eve since 2013 -- except for 2017 and 2020 -- NBC has debuted a primetime special, with hosts and celebrity guests breaking down the biggest pop culture moments and trends of the year. Produced by NBC News, this annual two-hour special is a celebration of the year that was, including the stories, stars, scandals and much more.

For the first year, A TOAST TO 2013! premiered on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 8-10pm ET/PT on NBC, hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. From the Pope, Paula Deen and the Royals, to Anthony Weiner and the twerking craze, this special reminded viewers of the buzziest stories of the last year, with the help of Jane Lynch, Michael Buble, Sheryl Sandberg, Pharrell Williams, Questlove and Ian Ziering. The duo were joined by Michael Buble, Ellie Kemper, Kenan Thompson and Busy Philipps to dish on the most talked-about stories that made for an unforgettable year. In this two-hour special, the duo take look back at the light-hearted and humorous moments that provided a much-needed break during a challenging year, including the buzziest viral videos, trends, bloopers and pranks. Viewers are invited to join using #Toast2021.
