Plot Synopsis

Ian Archer is a budding hero who wakes up one morning to find himself at a mysterious academy for teens with special abilities. Unable to find answers to his questions from the school's faculty and cut off from the outside world, he finds other suspicious students -- Gabe, CJ and Suki -- to form a secret group intent on standing up against the system as they discover what this place is and why they are there. Ian's rebelliousness got him into a lot of trouble before he found himself at Tower Prep, and, ironically, it's that same spirit of defiance that makes him a hero at his new school. Even though he's merely pretending to be part of "The Program," he soon realizes that he may be benefiting from the school's offerings, allowing him to master preflex -- the ability to detect and react quickly to the slightest movements. Gabe is the class clown, who was completely alone at Tower Prep until Ian came along. Gabe's special ability is "hypersuation" -- he can convince people to do things or talk his way out of any situation just by using his astonishing persuasive skill. Suki is a quiet, introspective, optimistic girl who is a tech and computer whiz, which is no surprise since her family runs Sato Systems Electronics, the company behind the advanced equipment at Tower Prep. Her special ability is perfect mimicry, and she can impersonate a voice after hearing it just once and can also physically replicate anyone well enough to fool others. CJ is the textbook example of someone who follows "The Program." She's the perfect student, the most popular girl in school and well liked by everyone. And that's exactly what she wants everyone to think. She has no memory of her life on the outside and she wants to know why; so she has been secretly plotting an escape from Tower Prep since well before Ian arrived. CJ possess the ability to read people by analyzing the slightest changes in a person's facial tics or demeanor. The creator, Paul Dini, is known in almost every aspect of pop culture: writing for animated series (TINY TOON ADVENTURES; STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS; BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD); creating animated programs (BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES; DUCK DODGERS; BATMAN BEYOND); writing for scripted live-action shows (LOST); writing for DC Comics (BATMAN: THE SECRETS OF GOTHAM; ZATANNA; GOTHAM CITY SIRENS); creating his own series (JINGLE BELLE; MUTANT, TEXAS); scripting video games (BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM; BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY).
