Plot Synopsis

After 17-year-old Angelica is found dead in a canal, public prosecutor Elena Guerra makes a shocking discovery about her connection to the girl that she puts a planned leave from work on hold. After the first suspect, Claudio Cavalleri, commits suicide, the police turn their focus to Claudio's wife, Linda, whose alibi is questionable. But Linda's father is well-connected and willing to do anything to clear her name. When the trial begins, Elena presents party photos, a dress tear, and a witness with sharp hearing to build a murder scenario, while Ruggero Barone presents his case in defense of Linda. THE TRIAL had its U.S. premiere on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire eight-episode first season.
