Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, THE 2010S is the sixth and final series in the "Decades" franchise, which started with the 1960s and continued -- decade by decade -- through the '70s, '80s, '90s, 2000s, and now the 2010s. This seven-part series examines the decade that gave us Instagram, President Barack Obama, marriage equality, Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, and Trumpism. The decade was a turbulent era marked by political and social upheaval, culminating in the single most dramatic year of the 21st century: 2020. THE 2010S features archival footage and interviews with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Benny Blanco, Bill Kristol, CNN Anchor Chris Wallace, CNN Anchor and Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash, David Remnick, Este Haim, CNN Host Fareed Zakaria, FINNEAS, Fiona Hill, Jemele Hill, Lena Waithe, Maggie Haberman, CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju, Rami Malek, Reince Priebus, CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN Anchor and Senior National & International Correspondent Sara Sidner, Ted Sarandos, Tom Hanks, CNN Political Commentator Van Jones, Vince Gilligan and many more. Episodes include:

"Peak TV" (Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 9-11pm ET/PT): The 2010s welcome outstanding shows on TV and are known as the second golden age of television, when innovations in streaming lead to opportunities for new types of voices and diverse audiences.

"Music on Demand" (Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 9-10pm ET/PT): A deep dive into the major trends and innovations in popular music during the 2010s as streaming dominated, genres collapsed and music underwent a profound mood swing from EDM-infused pop to darker more intimate stylings by decade's end.

"Obama: Legacy on the Line" (Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 9-10pm ET/PT): A candid reflection not only on Barack Obama's presidency, but also the seismic political shifts that took place in both the Republican and Democratic parties while he occupied the Oval Office.

"Trump: The Disrupter" (Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 9-10pm ET/PT): A look back on Donald Trump's meteoric political rise in 2016, including how he defeated Hillary Clinton, delivered on campaign promises and left a polarizing legacy.

"Taking It to the Streets " (Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 9-10pm ET/PT): Examining a new era of activism that erupts in the 2010s; a decade of increased polarization and social change through movements like Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, and the rise of the Alt-right.

"The Social Media Boom " (Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 9-10pm ET/PT): An exploration of social media's growing influence during the 2010s as platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok become massively popular and change the ways of the world.

"2020: The Year That Changed Everything " (Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 9-11pm ET/PT): A fast-paced chronicle of how the year of 2020 was one of the most transformational years in recent history with a presidential impeachment, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the largest civil rights demonstrations in history.
