Plot Synopsis

UGLY DELICIOUS is a one-hour docuseries that follows James Beard Award-Winning Chef David Chang, as he travels the world with writers and chefs, activists and artists, who use food as a vehicle to break down cultural barriers, tackle misconceptions and uncover shared experiences. Throughout the series, David ventures out of polished kitchens into the wider world to explore Viet-Cajun cuisine in Houston, Neapolitan Pizza in Tokyo, home cooking in Copenhagen, and much more. David's travel companions include Jimmy Kimmel, Ali Wong, Roy Choi, Alan Yang, Ruth Reichl, Peter Meehan, Jessica Koslow, Alex Raij, Justin Yu, Gustavo Arellano, Fuchsia Dunlop, Rene Redzepi, and Serena Dai. On Friday, February 23, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the entire eight-episode first season of UGLY DELICIOUS.

On Friday, March 6, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released four additional episodes of UGLY DELICIOUS:

"Kids Menu": Nervous dad-to-be Dave seeks advice from fellow chefs on how to juggle work and parenting, then tries his hand at making kid-friendly food.

"Don't Call It Curry": Admitting he's clueless about Indian cuisine, Dave turns to Aziz Ansari and Padma Lakshmi for help and embarks on an eye-opening trip to Mumbai.

"Steak": Dave and friends visit cattle ranches, upscale restaurants and an Outback Steakhouse to unpack the complicated social dynamics of sliced beef.

"As the Meat Turns": An obsession with cooking meat on a spit inspires Dave to drop by a food science lab and explore how displaced people have shaped culinary history.
