Plot Synopsis

Using CGI animation with LiDAR scanning, X-ray imaging, carbon dating, and 3D printing techniques, this one-hour series reveals the deepest secrets of structures from around the world -- from the Pyramids of Giza to the Parthenon and from Big Ben in London to the Great Wall of China. UNEARTHED fuses elements of engineering, geology and archaeology to help answer questions and crack unsolved mysteries surrounding some of the greatest wonders of the ancient and modern world, showing that the future of science and technology are key to understanding our past -- and without these developments, scientists couldn't unravel some of the world's greatest mysteries. At critical points in each episode, blow-apart CGI animation deconstructs the structures to reveal hidden anatomy while exploring the secret history of each edifice.

Season 2 of UNEARTHED premiered on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Science Channel. The second season includes structures that range in size, scale, age and location, from ancient wonders like the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt to the city of Teotihuacan in Mexico and the Terracotta Army, a collection of sculptures depicting the armies of the first Emperor of China. Season 2 kicks off with an episode that ventures inside the Valley of the Kings, where for over 500 years Egyptian Pharaohs were buried, including King Tut.

UNEARTHED returned for a new season on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Science Channel. The season opener ventures to Denmark, where archaeologists are using the latest technology to uncover the secrets of the lost fortresses of the Viking Age. These revelations, which will answer questions about why these massive citadels were built, may also help explain what brought the Viking Era to an end. This season's other explorations include: Statue of Liberty; Forbidden City of China; Easter Island; Palace of Knossos; Pompeii.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on Science Channel, UNEARTHED returned with ten new episodes. In the mid-season premiere, "Titanic: The Last Secrets," a cutting-edge investigation into the sinking of the Titanic reveals new discoveries that might finally explain the mysteries of her last moments, and experts get closer to a shocking secret: if there was a way to save almost everyone on board.
