Plot Synopsis
Directed by Pepsy Romanoff, VASCO ROSSI: LIVING IT is a five-part documentary about Italy's most beloved rock star Vasco Rossi, who grants unprecedented access to intimate details of his personal life and successful career over the decades. The series was filmed mostly during the two-year pandemic, a moment of unexpected respite from the rockstar's usual, countless commitments, a unique opportunity to find time to look back and retrace the most important moments of his career and life. VASCO ROSSI: LIVING IT follows Vasco to his most important places, from Zocca, his hometown, to Los Angeles and, through interviews, archival materials and testimonies from those who have been with him over the years, traces his and all the stories behind his unforgettable songs. Vasco has written an unreleased song specifically for the series, entitled "Gli Sbagli Che Fai," it is the theme song and was released as a single on digital platforms via Virgin Records/Universal Music Italia, at the same time as the series debut. All five episodes of VASCO ROSSI: LIVING IT dropped on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 on Netflix:
"Birth of a Legend": From a humble childhood in the small town of Zocca, up until his first gig in Bologna: Vasco promptly proved his music skills and rebellious spirit.
"Drugs. Rock 'n' Roll.": In the '80s, Vasco becomes known not only for his quick rise to fame as a rock star, but also his wild lifestyle. Until things get out of hand.
"Family Time": His experience in prison teaches Vasco he needs a new direction in life, and he prioritizes his music and family -- but there are more surprises in store.
"Brush with Death": Despite his endless fame and loyal fans like Valentino Rossi, Vasco falls into a black void when grief and sorrow enter his life.
"Super-vivor": After some health issues, Vasco is back on track and puts on the record-breaking concert in Modena Park. Seeking new challenges, he moves to the US.
