Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Selema Masekela, VICE WORLD OF SPORTS is a half-hour series that chronicles unique stories from around the world that illustrate the relationship between sport and society, exploring broad cultures, politics, places and people through the one thing connects them all: sport. Masekela has traveled to places such as Ghana, Cuba, and Kenya, among many others, to tell unique stories. The series premiere, "Boys of Bukom," documents the story of Bukom, a tiny slum village on the coast of Ghana that has produced more world champion boxers per capita than anywhere else in the world. On April 22, 2016 -- five days before the series debut -- Viceland released the first episode online. Season 2 of VICE WORLD OF SPORTS premiered on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Viceland. In the one-hour season opener, "Rivals: The Boom Squad," Miami's Liberty City is football's Mecca, home to NFL legends; the biggest rivalry in this city starts with a hard-hitting squad of six-year-olds. The rest of the second season also features sports rivals, including: Argentinian soccer, ancient games in Florence, Australian rules football, E-sports, and more.
On Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 10:30-11:30pm ET/PT, Viceland premiered the Season 2 finale of VICE WORLD OF SPORTS. In the one-hour season ender, "Montana 6 Man," farming and football are life in Montana, but as farms dry up and people disappear, two schools that were once bitter rivals must join forces. Now one team gives hope to two fading towns.
