Plot Synopsis

WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR follows a high-school football team, the Lincoln Park Railsplitters, who have lost 43 games in a row and are just five losses away from breaking the Michigan state record for the worst losing streak. But the football team is sick of being kicked around. The cheerleaders are finished being taunted. This year everything is going to change. The kids from Lincoln Park and their new football coach are on a mission to do what nobody thinks they can: win. From dating relationships and struggles fitting in, to losing weight and family drama, they deal with the growing pains of high school while uniting first as friends, then as a team and finally as a school hoping to start a new legacy at Lincoln park. This one-hour series features these football players, cheerleaders and coaches: quarterback Ed, who spent more than a year behind bars after he was caught selling weed in school; quarterback Naeem, who is very talented but whose big mouth might get him in trouble with his new coach; linebacker Cody, who has a disastrous home life that's left him raising himself and making some big mistakes along the way; lineman Dakota, lives for football, but at nearly 400 lbs he's not in shape to play; new head coach Jim 'Kalby' Kalbfleisch, a crusty old veteran who came out of retirement for one last challenge; cheerleader Amanda, who was in love with Cody -- until he broke her heart, leaving her unable to trust boys; cheerleader Danielle, who, for the first time in her life, has strong feelings for another girl, even though Naeem's in love with her; cheerleader Ashley, who stays out of trouble and has plans for college, but is in love with Ed; and other students on the football, cheer, and basketball teams. On Friday, October 25, 2013, one week before the series premiered on TV, MTV released all 12 episodes on its MTV app, marking the first time a network pre-released an entire series exclusively in an app.
