Plot Synopsis

From Executive Producers LeBron James and Maverick Carter -- along with PGA award-winning director and producer Evan Rosenfeld -- WARRIORS OF LIBERTY CITY is a six-part documentary series that follows a season with the Liberty City Warriors, a youth football program founded by an unlikely mentor, hip-hop pioneer Luther Campbell, better known as "Uncle Luke." Beyond football, the Liberty City Warriors Optimist Club is a youth organization that sponsors sports teams, dance, cheerleading, tutoring and academic support. Furthermore, this series explores Liberty City, a crime-ridden neighborhood in Miami, Florida that is arguably the NFL's most successful football factory, including Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, Devonta Freeman, Antonio Brown, Duke Johnson, and Teddy Bridgewater. It's a place synonymous with poverty and gun violence, but in the face of incredible challenges and personal tragedy, the Liberty City Warriors learn to triumph both on and off the football field. WARRIORS OF LIBERTY CITY had its world premiere at 2018 SXSW on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 1:30-3pm in Vimeo Theater. Six months later, the series has its official series premiere on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT on Starz. In the series opener, "We Are Kings," Liberty City Warriors co-founder, entertainer, and political activist Luther 'Uncle Luke' Campbell tours Liberty City and describes the origins of the Warriors program.
On Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT, Starz premiered the season finale of WARRIORS OF LIBERTY CITY. In the season ender, "Who We Do This For," it's back to regular life for the players and coaches and it's time to reflect on what the future holds.
