Plot Synopsis

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS is a one-hour reality series that follows nine young men and women from the diverse New York City neighborhood of Washington Heights, where many of these young twentysomethings have grown up just blocks away from each other. While fiercely proud of their community, they sometimes struggle to push past the confines of their upbringing in order to carve out bright futures for themselves -- and each other, even though they're not all blood related. The group includes: JP (a.k.a. Audubon), the person who originally conceived the show more than two years before it premiered, making him the undisputed peacekeeper, motivator, and glue behind this tight-knit group; Reyna, a fiery diva who doesn't shy away from trouble, who may be confrontational but is the first one to laugh at a joke and have a friend's back; Frankie, a petite woman with a big personality with boy-crazy tendencies -- and feelings for Ludwin -- who expresses her sensitivity and struggles through the spoken-word poetry she writes and performs; Ludwin, dreaming of a career as an artist, who shares a mutual attraction with Frankie, but might not be able to give her everything she's looking for; Jimmy, on his own since age 16 with his father in prison and an absent mother, who dreams of a professional career in baseball and is dating Eliza, an outsider in the group; Rico, JP's best friend and a dreamer, who lives with his mother and younger brother, Fred, while thinking about being a model or an actor or the next career du jour; Fred, the exact opposite of his older brother and a hustler, who is doing all he can to make it in the fashion industry; Taylor, who is known for having an off-beat sense of style and a different perspective on what goes on with this crew; and Eliza, Jimmy's girlfriend from New Jersey, who has issues with Reyna, causing a major rift and possibly forcing Jimmy to decide between the girl who has his best interests at heart and the friends he's always had.
