Plot Synopsis

Each weekday from 6-8pm ET/3-5pm PT, Mike Bettes hosts WEATHER UNDERGROUND, a live television series that explores the weather from the perspective of a geek, allowing experts and bloggers to explain the why behind the what of weather forecasts and events. During the first week of #WUTV, Bettes and co-host Sarah Dillingham navigate "a busy week of expert guests, the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and geeking out on all things weather," according to Dillingham. Experts include meteorologist Stephanie Abrams; hurricane/storm specialist Carl Parker; Marshall Shepherd, director of UGA's Atmospheric Sciences program; and more. Three years before the series premiere, The Weather Channel Companies acquired Weather Underground, a provider of web-based weather data from a network of more than 100,000 Personal Weather Stations located on houses or in backyards. Keeping with the show's focus on technology, #WUTV live streamed its editorial meeting on wunderground.com/wutv four days before the series debuted, and the next day used Periscope to broadcast its rehearsal live.
