Plot Synopsis

THE WEEKLY SHOW is a parody of a news program, anchored by Brett Williams and Valise Mitchell with entertainment/pop-culture correspondent Nicky Gordy, sports reporter & weatherman Michael Taitei, medical expert Dr. Calton Irving, and their stretched-thin producer Gail Noname'. Featuring the comedy musings of a group of seasoned improv vets from The Groundlings, the week-in-review covers the real news stories of the week, including current events and pop culture features in each episode. Along with these segments, the show features the behind-the-scenes back-stage drama of the characters, with their personal beefs, the dust-ups with management, and their fights at home. THE WEEKLY SHOW is largely improvised from outlines created by Shadoe Stevens, director/performer Karen Maruyama, and the team, and the news magazine portions are shot in front of a live audience. On Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11pm ET/8pm PT, TV One premiered the pilot of this series, which is scheduled to officially debut in the first quarter of 2016.
