Plot Synopsis

This prequel to the 2001 film WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER takes place at the fictional Camp Firewood, a summer camp in Maine where friendships are formed, relationships bloom and hormones rage against a backdrop of athletics, arts and crafts, theater, secret identities, sexual discovery and diabolical government conspiracies. While the events of the film happen on the last day at Camp Firewood in the summer of 1981, the series takes place two months earlier, on the first day of camp. The eight-episode series was shot in January and February 2015 at Calamigos Ranch in the Santa Monica mountains outside Los Angeles. In addition to the original cast members of the film, WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER: FIRST DAY OF CAMP has added some new faces into the mix, as Jon Hamm, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Pine, Josh Charles, Kristen Wiig, John Slattery, Randall Park, Lake Bell, Michaela Watkins, Michael Cera, Jordan Peele and 'Weird Al' Yankovic join the team at Camp Firewood. Netflix released all eight episodes of the WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER: FIRST DAY OF CAMP on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 3:10am ET/12:01am PT.
