Plot Synopsis

Speaking to experts and examining historical sites, history buff and veteran high school teacher Joe Moniaci tells famously forgotten tales that shaped some of America's greatest icons, scandals and disasters. Each one-hour episode of WHAT HISTORY FORGOT features four stories with a common theme, such as: "Icons of Freedom," as Joe uncovers the secrets behind the attack on American soil that nearly destroyed the Statue of Liberty, Monopoly being a real life get out of jail free card for POWs during WWII, the connection between the Star Spangled Banner and a lurid drinking tune from a country America was once at war with, and Amelia Earhart's status as the best female pilot of her time; "Crooks," as Joe exposes the secrets behind a deadly act of terrorism in New York City on Wall Street in 1920, the Boy Scouts being founded by a British spy, Coca-Cola's hard-to-resist original ingredient, and DB Cooper's famous heist; and many more topics like "To the Ends of the World," "Secret Weapons," "Verge of Destruction," and "Rebels With a Cause." Season 2 of WHAT HISTORY FORGOT premiered on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on AHC: American Heroes Channel, shortly after a four-hour marathon (5-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Defying the Nazis," we all think the U.S. started fighting the Nazis after the Pearl Harbor attacks...but most don't know the stories behind some of the biggest deceptions, the top secrets and the secret weapons used to help defy the Nazis in WWII.
On Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, American Heroes Channel premiered the season finale of WHAT HISTORY FORGOT, immediately following a seven-hour marathon (3-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season ender, "Top Secret World War II," Joe divulges things about WWII more secret than ultra covert units, unbreakable codes, top secret underground nerve centers, and super-human Navy SEALs.
